Moonbeam Update

Android App Fix!

Happy New Year everyone! I had a more robust update email planned, but I’ve decided it is Friday, and I want to get a quick update out to all of you. I’ll send the larger update email out on Monday.

The following update pertains to folks in our Alpha phase, but for those in Beta phase, we plan to host two live streams next week. You can join those for updates—exact times and dates will be included in the next update I send out.

Pat and the engineering team have been working on some pretty significant adjustments to our homepage, and I’ll talk more about that in my next email. Be prepared; the homepage is getting a facelift…and something about Realm tags (what?!)…but those are secrets I’ll discuss soon. For now, enjoy the quick app update.

Quick Update: Android App

Google has given us 100 seats for the Android App, and we are working with Google to enter “Closed Testing,” which will allow broad access to our Android app—this might take a couple of weeks for Google to approve.

In the meantime, if you completed our Android access form and submitted your Google Play email address, you can see if you have access to it. Right now, 100 of you should, and ~30 folks who submitted will have to wait until Closed Testing when we get more seats.

If you submitted your Google Play email to us, try accessing our Android app using this link: https://play.google.com/apps/internaltest/4701469480619074944.

Once you download the app, you’ll want to use your Moonbeam username (not email) and password to log in.

📱 Mobile 1.0.2 Release Notes from Michael

Small update to the Moonbeam iOS and Android app to address a few bugs and improve the overall app experience.

Improvements

  • Separated the "likes text" at the bottom of a post into two lines. This will create a cleaner, more consistent look with the usernames on the first line (truncated if needed) and the number of likes on the second line.

  • Changed the behavior of the sort dropdown to dismiss when tapping anywhere outside of it

  • Condensed the timestamp date

Bug Fixes

  • Made the like button more consistent. Unliking and then liking quickly should maintain the proper state.

  • Fixed the visibility of the Sentiment tag

  • Fixed messages not sending on the stream view

That is all for now. I’ll reach out to you again on Monday with a more detailed update! Excited for all the things 2025 will bring to Moonbeam, thanks for being a part of this journey with us. Cheers!
